Scholastic books has announced a May 19th 2020 publication date for a new The Hunger Games prequel novel penned by the series’ author Suzanne Collins.
The story is set in the world of Panem, 64 years before the events of the original trilogy on the morning of the reaping of the 10th Hunger Games. Unsurprisingly Lionsgate is already in talks for a potential film adaptation of the still untitled work.
Joe Drake, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group told Deadline:
“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”
Lionsgate adapted four movies from Collins trilogy, raking in nearly $3 billion at the worldwide box office.
