Logitech has revealed its TV Cam HD with Skype video calling. Unlike the previous version, which required users to have a TV with a free USB port, the new model works with any TV with a free HDMI port. It will connect to the Internet either through Wi-Fi or by direct connection through an Ethernet port and does not require a computer.
The Logitech TV Cam HD uses Carl Zeiss optics to deliver its 720p video, with the company’s ‘Fluid Crystal’ tech said to boost image clarity still further. It also helps to brighten images in low light situations as well, while its wide-angle capability will allow people to be involved in a conversation from most positions in a living room. Audio quality is optimized with the inclusion of four microphones with both beamforming and unidirectional functionality.
The Logitech TV Cam HD also comes with a remote control that can be used to answer calls and navigate the Skype UI. It allows users to zoom, pan and tilt the camera to help focus on one speaker, whether they might be seated or standing up.
The Logitech TV Cam HD is available for pre-order now at $200.
