As part of its fiscal Q3 financial results call with analysts, CFO Peter Oppenheimer confirmed that Mac OS X 10.7 (“Lion”) will debut today, July 20th. The company will make the upgrade available for $30 through its own Mac App Store, marking the first time it has offered download-only software for a system upgrade.
Images of the OS will be used in Apple’s retail stores to assist customers who would prefer not to download the 4GB file on their home connections.
