One the most popular films of the summer with critics and audiences alike, Mad Max: Fury Road will be back on the big, big screen September 11 when the George Miller film hits IMAX 3D for a limited engagement. Because IMAX theaters were booked with Avengers: Age of Ultron when Fury Road was initially released domestically, this marks Mad Max‘s first visit to IMAX screens.
Already having grossed more than $374 million worldwide, Fury Road offers post-apocalyptic action set in the furthest reaches of our planet, taking place in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.
Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Tom Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
The film also stars Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, X-Men: Days of Future Past), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max, Sleeping Beauty), Nathan Jones (Conan the Barbarian, Troy), Zoe Kravitz (Divergent, X-Men: First Class), Riley Keough (The Runaways, Magic Mike) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers: Age of Extinction).
The IMAX release of Mad Max: Fury Road has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of An IMAX 3D Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
A Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and Kennedy Miller Mitchell production, Mad Max: Fury Road was also released on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D this week. You can find showtimes for the IMAX 3D screening right here.
