Mad Catz has revealed a new multi-section keyboard in its gaming peripheral line. The Strike 5 Professional Gaming Keyboard closely resembles the Strike 7 keyboard, with a similar collection of separate modules combined into one package. The control module loses the TFT LCD touchscreen of the Strike 7 in favor of an OLED display, which allows for control over macros and out-of-game functions, while also monitoring in-game events.

The modular design allows for the system to be laid out however the user wants, with the main shortened keyboard being the focus of attention. The numpad also uses the same 16-million color RGB backlighting as the main keyboard, with all keys optimized to use 60 grams of actuation force to reduce muscle fatigue. The entire system incorporates 21 programmable macro buttons over three modes, allowing for 63 user-definable commands Two wrist rests and an active palm rest, complete with an action button and thumb wheel, round off the keyboard’s component list.

The Mad Catz Strike 5 keyboard is up for pre-orders at $200, cheaper than the $300 Strike 7, with a release set for sometime in the near future.
