An anticipated iPhone email client, Orchestra’s Mailbox, has gone live at the App Store. Downloading the app only puts a person into a reservation queue however, as Orchestra is managing the number of people able to access its services. Entries are on a first-come first-served basis.
Mailbox attempts to improve email on the iPhone through things like a gesture system that makes it simpler to trash or archive messages. Conservations are organized into chat-style views, and messages can be set to “snooze,” meaning they’ll be moved out of the way but return automatically. Delays can be set to broad windows such as “This Evening” or “Next Week,” or aimed at a specific date.
Mailbox requires a device running iOS 6 or later. Currently the app only supports Gmail accounts, but Orchestra is promising support for other email services later.
