Premium TV network EPIX announced today that it will showcase the sharp, cynical humor of stand-up comedian, actor and author Marc Maron, in the one-hour Original Comedy Event “Marc Maron: More Later” making its World Television Premiere Friday, December 4, at 10pm ET/PT, 9C on EPIX.
This special is Maron’s first premium TV stand-up event in 20 years. Maron, who made headlines last month when he interviewed President Barack Obama on his popular podcast, WTF with Marc Maron – which has been downloaded over 2.3 million times to date – has welcomed a long list of top tier talent to his show, including Louis C.K., Amy Poehler, Lena Dunham, Conan O’Brien, Janeane Garofalo and Chris Rock, among others.
Filmed this year at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, “Marc Maron: More Later” captures Maron as he dishes out compelling, raw and wildly honest stand-up. In this brand new special, Maron tackles religion, relationships, rage, Skype sex and ice cream among other topics in the sheerly authentic way that only he can.
“I’m really excited about this special,” said Marc Maron. “The Vic is an amazing theater and the crowd in Chicago was amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever been funnier and I should know.”
“Marc’s edgy, smart approach to comedy is admired not only by his peers, but by fans worldwide,” said Mark S. Greenberg, President and CEO, EPIX. “This has been a banner year for EPIX comedy specials and we are honored to continue presenting our viewers with the best stand-up comedy acts performing today, uncut and uncensored.”
A legend in the stand-up community, Marc Maron has been writing and performing honest, thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio, online and television for over 20 years. In 2012, Time Magazine included Maron in its short list of the “100 Most Influential People” and he is the star of the critically acclaimed television series “Maron.” His podcast, WTF with Marc Maron, has become a worldwide phenomenon; averaging 5 million downloads each month andwas named the #1 Comedy Podcast by LA Weekly, as well as The AV Club and deemed as a “must-listen” by Vanity Fair and The New York Times. As an author, Maron made The New York Times’ Best Seller list for his collection of essays titled “Attempting Normal” and also wrote “The Jerusalem Syndrome: My Life as a Reluctant Messiah” based on his solo show. His first three CDs, “Not Sold Out,” “Tickets Still Available” and “Final Engagement” are comedy cult classics and in 2014 he released “Thinky Pain.” Respected by his fellow comedians, Maron has been a frequent guest on many television talk shows including, “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Conan,” “Real Time with Bill Maher,” “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “The Late, Late, Show with Craig Ferguson.”
