Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D makes it’s debut next week, and the powers that be are looking to capitalize on the show’s early success. Reports are surfacing that Marvel is beginning to plan another TV show — about Agent Carter, the superspy love interest played by Hayley Atwell in the first Captain America movie. Atwell already reprised her character in a short Agent Carter film, which played at Comic-Con and will be released with the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, and she’ll apparently have some role in the next Captain America film — presumably in flashback, since Cap 2 takes place about 70 years after Cap 1.
Sources say that an Agent Carter spin-off is definitely under consideration — although since Marvel is Marvel, it could be “under consideration” in the same sense that a Power Man and Iron Fist movie is under consideration. Theoretically, an Agent Carter series would take place in the post-war era, offering Marvel the opportunity to bring in various bits of comic book arcana, while avoiding the expense of more modern superheroes who need large FX budgets.
