MTV has released a new trailer for the hotly anticipated “Scream” TV series, which debuts June 30. The video gives the first view at the new masked killer in action. The series, based on the 1996 movie, will not feature the original Ghostface.
MTV’s “Scream” follows a new crew of teens, as the mysterious murderer wreaks havoc in their small town. The trailer (below) gives a glimpse at Nina (played by Disney Channel alum Bella Thorne), a gorgeous entited teen at Lakewood High School who is killed in an apparent crime of passion, following her boyfriend’s murder, which exposes the inner workings of the community’s complex social hierarchy. The brutal event brings back memories from a past killing spree.
The cast is rounded out by newcomers Willa Fitzgerald as Emma; Bex Taylor-Klaus as Audrey; Carlson Young as Brooke; Amadeus Serafini as Kieran; John Karna as Noah; Connor Weil as Will; Tracy Middendorf as Maggie; and Jason Wiles as Sheriff Hudson.
The series hails from The Weinstein Company with Bob and Harvey Weinstein as exec producers. Wes Craven, who directed the original film franchise, is also exec producing with Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad.
