Mel Gibson is eyeing the headlining role in Blood Father, an upcoming action thriller from Mesrine director Jean-Francois Richet. Deadline has the news, likening the overall tone of the project to Taken.
Peter Craig (The Town) provides provides the screenplay for Blood Father, which would feature Gibson as an ex-convict who must protect his estranged daughter from violent drug dealers.
Gibson recently played the villain in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills and will soon be back on the big screen in Patrick Hughes’ The Expendables 3.
Why Not Productions and producer Chris Briggs are handling the production, which is targeting a May shoot in New Mexico.
