Tesla is not the only car producer looking to offer customers with the ability to store electricity for later use.
Mercedes-Benz has revealed its own “energy storage units,” which will allow customers to retain electricity from the mains or solar panels in a plant, consisting of up to eight battery modules capable of holding 2.5kWh each for a total of 20kWh.
Reservations for the energy storage plants for consumer use have opened, and though pricing has yet to be revealed, Mercedes expects to ship its devices starting this September.
