Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection Gets the Go Ahead

metalgearsolidgroundzeroes[1]Following recent rumors Konami has announced a far more definitive-sounding compendium, named Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection.

It will include the original Metal Gear Solid plus its VR Missions expansion, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

The three games from the HD Collection will be the same as previously released, but there’s no indication whether Metal Gear Solid – originally a PS one game – will be enhanced in any way. But it doesn’t sound like it’s The Twin Snakes version from the GameCube.

Also included in the collection is the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, which are traditionally included as an extra with Metal Gear Solid 3. There’ll also be two digital graphic novels from Ashley Wood.

That’s all the games that are considered canon in terms of the series’ overarching plot, with the exception of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PSP. Presumably the reason it’s not included, but its follow-up Peace Walker is, is because it’s never had a HD version.

Even so it’s a much more complete collection than normal for this sort of thing, but the downside to that is that it’s a PlayStation 3 exclusive – presumably because Metal Gear Solid 4 is still only available for Sony’s home console.

There’s also no European release date or price yet, even though a North American release has been confirmed for June
