Microsoft Office 2013 is now available for purchase. As with previous versions, there are three major editions along with the ability for customers to purchase individual applications. A cloud-based subscription version of Office 365 is also now on sale, with the Home Premium version priced at either $100 for 12 months or $10 per month.
The subscription model reduces the upfront cost of Office, while also guaranteeing users access the each new version in the future. Users who opt for the subscription model will also have the ability to access Office 365 on up to five PCs or Macs. It also comes with 20GB of SkyDrive storage and 60 minutes of Skype calls per month.
Standard native installations are available for use on a single PC. Office Home & Student 2013 is retailing for $140, Office Home & Business 2013 is retailing for $220, while Office Professional 2013 is available for $400. Each version comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, while the more expensive versions include enterprise apps with Outlook, Publisher and Access among them. There is no native install available for Mac users.
