Director Ava DuVernay‘s upcoming big screen take on Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time is expanding its cast as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon are being eyed to join Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey is playing the part of the immortal Mrs. Which while Kaling and Witherspoon will play Mrs. Who and Mrs. Whatsit, respectively.

Frozen screenwriter and co-director Jennifer Lee is adapting A Wrinkle in Time into a screenplay, with Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand producing. A Wrinkle in Time marks the first title in L’Engle’s four-book “Time Quartet” series, which also includes A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet and Many Waters. L’Engle’s 1989 novel, An Acceptable Time, was also marketed as part of the series but took place a generation earlier.

Mindy Kaling, whose series The Mindy Project is about to begin its fifth season on Hulu, is also part of the upcoming Gary Ross ensemble Ocean’s Eight. Reese Witherspoon, meanwhile, is set to headline the HBO comedy series Big Little Lies and will also lend her voice to Illumination Entertainment’s animated musical Sing.
