Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment announced today that their Despicable Me spinoff Minions will now hit theaters on July 10, 2015. The film was previously scheduled for a December 19, 2014 release.
Also scheduled for July of that year are Terminator (July 1), Independence Day 2 (July 3), Superman/Batman (July 17), The Smurfs 3 (July 25), and Ant-Man and Peregrine’s Home for Peculiars on July 31.
In addition, the release date for the Untitled Illuminition Entertainment Project will move from July 3, 2015 to Friday, February 12, 2016.
Minions features a voice cast led by Oscar winner Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm. The 3D-CG comedy adventure is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and directed by Pierre Coffin. Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the film, which is co-directed by Kyle Balda. Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.
