“Falling Skies” just landed an Oscar and Golden Globe winner for Season 4. Mira Sorvino is set for a multiple-episode guest-starring arc on TNT’s popular alien invasion drama, the network announced on Monday (Oct. 21).
Sorvino will play Sara, a woman far removed from her former life as a graphic designer who is now dogged by death at every turn, yet she has never felt more alive, free or fearless. A chance encounter with guerrilla fighter John Pope (Colin Cunningham) leads her to join the resistance and develop a strong personal bond with the outlaw-turned-warrior.
Season 3 of the alien invasion drama ended on a cliffhanger, when Tom (Noah Wyle) was finally reunited with Anne (Moon Bloodgood) and their daughter Alexis … but instead of being a baby, the half-alien, half-human girl had grown seven years in just a few short weeks … plus the war going on between the surviving humans, Volm alien allies, and invading Espheni alien enemies was picking up major steam. “The first episode is going to start about two weeks after the last one ended, so we’re picking up with these characters pretty freshly,” Wyle tells Zap2it. “Tom is still getting to know this new daughter of his, who he thought was six months old and looks very much like a seven year old. And her growth rate will continue to be pretty accentuated. It should make for some interesting story lines.”
Currently in production on its fourth season, “Falling Skies” is set for a summer 2014 return.
