T-Mobile has signaled plans for another tablet in its mix with registrations for a name in less than a week. Both a USPTO trademark for “SnapPad” and several domain name registrations, such as SnapPad.biz and multiple variants such as T-MobileSnapPad.com and .net. The trademark only indicates that it’s for “tablet computers.”
Having already released the G-Slate, T-Mobile has made little known about who or what would be involved in the SnapPad. Given its control over device names on is network, the carrier is most likely rebadging a future tablet from HTC or Samsung with HSPA+ Internet access as a main feature. Candidates could include native versions of Samsung’s new Galaxy Tabs or the HTC Puccini.
Both the trademark and the web addresses omit clues as to a launch date. Either is typically registered months in advance and might not see the SnapPad arrive before the end of the year.
