AT&T quickly confirmed rumors of an early release by setting a date for the Motorola Atrix 4G. The dual-core, Android 2.2 range leader is now due for everyone on February 22. Pre-orders will also get a treat as their devices should be ready in stores a day early, on February 21.
The smartphone is one of the fastest on the market through its dual-core Tegra 2 and enough power to play 1080p video, with 1080p recording coming later. A 540×960 display is also the sharpest among Android phone builders, and it comes with both a five-megapixel back camera and a smaller front camera to take advantage of the HSPA+ 3G link.
Early buyers will get the phone for $199 on a two-year contract. The specialized notebook dock, which brings like the phone act like a linux computer just by cradling the Atrix, raises the price to either $500 for a bundle with or without contract.
