MoviePass Now Restricting Movies Choice And Viewing Times

Just a week ago in an effort to stay solvent MoviePass opted not to proceed with a $14.95 price hike. Instead, was keeping $9.95 subscription plan. But the new plan was no longer a movie day plan but three movie tickets a month plan.

Now  according to The New York Post. The MoviePass service went down again on Friday evening (third weekend in a row), and since then subscribers are now stuck with a new problem – each day, they only get two movie choices.

Essentially it means customers trying to check in to movies re forced to choose between only two movies. Most were given the option of either Slender Man or Mission: Impossible – Fallout.  Also the showtimes available for purchase are limited. The paper tried using their MoviePass at AMC Empire 25 in Times Square, but the only ‘Fallout’ showtimes available were 2:30pm and 10:45pm.

MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe tells the paper:

“Unfortunately, in order to stay financially stable we’ve had to curtail the service. We had to right the ship as far as the amount of money we were burning. This has been a challenging time for us and our customers. We’re just trying to save our service to be able to be available long term.”

Lowe confirms the two movies available could change with each day.

The only upside for customer is the fact the service has seemingly removed surge pricing . At least for now!.

Shares of MoviePass parent company Helios And Matheson Analytics  hit an all-time low of 4.8 cents on Friday.
