First rumored for development back in 2012, “Scream,” a new ongoing series based on Wes Craven’s film franchise, is headed to MTV. Deadline has the news, reporting that “Scream” will arrive in one year, targeting an October 2015 premiere.
Released in 1996, the original Scream has been followed by three sequels, all directed by Craven. As a franchise, Scream has taken home more than $600 million at the worldwide box office.
Set to star Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Conner Well, Amadeus Serafini, Carlson Young, Joel Gretsch, Bobby Campo, Tom Madden and Anna Grace Barlow, the “Scream” pilot is scripted by Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin.
Jill Blotevogel is serving as showrunner on the series and executive producing alongside Wes Craven, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena and Bob and Harvey Weinstein.
