NBC Launches iPad App as Companion to Shows

Broadcaster NBC has launched an all-new free iPad app to promote its network, featuring video clips, photos, recaps, preview and social interaction features, along with games and trivia. The app also features upcoming schedules, searching across the NBC network and a customizable “myNBC” dashboard, but lacks the one thing commenters and buyers appear to really want: full episodes (even with ads in them).

The description of the app on the iTunes store addresses the issue by simply saying the “full episodes are not supported at this time,” which leaves the door open for future changes, but every single comment directed at the new video addresses the decision not to include full episodes, frequently suggesting NBC should learn from television-competitor apps like those put out by ABC and HBO, both of which offer full episodes (the former with ads, the latter requiring an HBO subscription).

The app requires iOS 3.2 or later and weighs in a 5.2MB.
