NBC has cut the episode order of “Truth Be Told.” Though the network has not canceled the show, the low-rated Friday night comedy’s freshman run has been reduced to 10 episodes. The remainder of the season will continue to run during its 8:30 p.m. time slot.
In its first two airings, “Truth Be Told” has averaged a 0.66 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.41 million viewers overall in Nielsen’s “live plus same-day” estimates. It’s the lowest-rated of any series on the Big Four networks this fall.
Created by DJ Nash, the sitcom follows two couples who are best friends and neighbors, and will talk about anything and everything. The lead foursome is played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tone Bell, Bresha Webb and Vanessa Lachey.
“Truth Be Told” has thus far received lackluster reviews from critics. When the pilot was ordered, the project was titled “People Are Talking.” The series also endured a casting change as Lachey replaced Meaghan Rath, who was also cast in another comedy, which was ordered to series at Fox.’
“Truth Be Told” joins a group of more new fall series that have had their orders cut, including “The Player,” also at NBC, which was trimmed to nine episodes last week. Fox recently reduced drama “Minority Report” to 10 episodes and ABC cut “Blood & Oil” to the same number.
