NBC has given an official series order to “People Are Talking,” a comedy starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, The series follows two diverse couples who are neighbors and best friends. As they go through life side-by-side, they can’t help but analyze and obsess about everything. Whether its sex and race or the fact that the trusted new babysitter might be a porn star, nothing is out of bounds for this wildly outspoken foursome.
The “Saved by the Bell” alum will star with Meaghan Rath, Tone Bell and Bresha Webb. The multi-cam project hails from Will Packer (“Ride Along”) who will exec produce with DJ Nash (“Up All Night,” “Growing Up Fisher”) and “How I Met Your Mother’s” Pam Fryman who directed the pilot. Nash also serves as writer on the series from Universal Television and Will Packer Prods.
On NBC’s comedy slate, “People Are Talking” joins Eva Longoria’s “Telenovela,” which was given a straight-to-series order, and the revival of “Coach,” starring Craig T. Nelson. New sitcoms “The Carmichael Show” and “Mr. Robinson” will premiere this summer.
