NBC is developing a high-concept drama titled “The Ark,” which takes Noah to space. The project originated from 20th Century Fox TV and Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers and is written by Daniel Kunka. This new series will center on an engineer who, after the death of his wife, has a vision to construct a ship capable of sustaining life in space. When the build happens to coincide with the coming end of the world, the engineer realizes there may be a larger story at play.
Zemeckis and Jack Rapke are set to executive produce alongside Jackie Levine and Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner & Robyn Meisinger. One of the latest retelling of the Book of Genesis story came in 2014 when Darren Aronofsky directed the controversial “Noah,” starring Russell Crowe. The story also took a comedic turn in 2007 when Steve Carell slowly started to become the ark builder in Tom Shadyac-helmed film “Evan Almighty.”
