Netflix has launched its Canadian service that lets residents sign up for watch instantly streaming movies and TV shows. Right now this is an English only service, French language support for Quebec and Francophones is coming soon.
Like the US service, users can visit with their Internet-connected PCs, Macs, Samsung and Toshiba Blu-ray players, PS3s, Wiis or iOS devices to the service in order to receiver streaming content. This plansdoes not in include Blu-rays and DVDs rentals.
The Xbox 360 will be added to the list of compatible devices sometime this fall. Microsoft first needs to do a Dashboard update to add the feature which is already there for US gamers. Internet-connected Samsung TVs, Vizio and Insignia Blu-ray players will also be added in the fall.
The movie and TV selection will vary from the US version. You lucky Canadians get Mad Men, while we down south don’t. We have not heard if Netflix will be required to honor the standard policies about specified percentages of content coming from the service be produced in Canada.
