Netflix has updated their mobile app for iOS, bringing refreshed user interface graphics for Retina Displays but not yet making HD video available through the app. In addition, the update (v2.1.1) of the free app fixes VoiceOver support, improves playback on external displays, and offers “numerous” fixes and stability improvements.
The app is a complement to a paid membership, which starts at $8 per month. Members can stream unlimited quantities of movies and TV episode and other programming from the Netflix site or the mobile app, resume watching where they left off on a internet-connected AppleTV or similar device, “smart” TV or computer, and use AirPplay or video out through most recent iOS devices.
The company has not said specifically when HD streaming support will reach iOS users subscribed to the service. A tweet on the company’s Twitter feed suggests HD will be coming “later on.”
