Announced during last week’s Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast, the update adds folder functionality to the system’s Home screen so that you can better organise all that content you’ve amassed over the past year. Users will be able to create and name folders that can store up to 60 items each.
The new firmware also introduces support for software updates, or patches, the first of which will fix shortcut exploits in Mario Kart 7.
Nintendo also used Nintendo Direct to reveal New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS, which is set to launch this August.
