It was revealed a few weeks ago that Warner Bros.’ upcoming Batman vs. Superman film will be the largest production ever to set up shop in the state of Michigan. Production will occupy all seven soundstages at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac in addition to quite a bit of location shooting.
Now, a few more details have been revealed about the Michigan portion of the film’s shoot (via Inquisitr), including public relations manager for the Michigan Film Office, Michelle Grinnell, citing the film’s budget as being $131 million. Grinnell also noted that the film is expected to bring roughly 6,000 jobs to the local economy in Detroit.
Keep in mind that the figure cited above is solely for the film’s production expenses while shooting in Michigan and not for any additional locations or post-production costs, which we’re guessing will be hefty. The film will also reportedly be shooting a handful of scenes in Yorkville, IL where construction began in November for a new and improved “Kent Farm.”
Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. In addition, the film will mark the big screen debut of Wonder Woman as played by Gal Gadot.
Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, the Zack Snyder-directed Batman vs. Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
