Further details have come to light about Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix and the reshoots that have led to the film being delayed three months to February 2019.
THR reports that the movie was in post-production and it had come in slightly under-budget. However sources say that will change as the third act will need some reworking, thus reshoots have been ordered.
The extent of the new material isn’t known as Kinberg has yet to pen anything, but estimates are the reshoots will cost under $10 million and to take place in late summer/early fall.
Additionally, both Kinberg and Fox had been looking to move Dark Phoenix for some time, with the new date on President’s Day weekend 2019 taking advantage of the release slot in which Deadpool was so successful in 2016 and Black Panther became a megahit in this year.
