A brief trailer for “Doctor Who” season eight (or 34, for longtime fans) has debuted via the BBC. While it offers very little in terms of footage, it does confirm that Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor will make his first non-cameo debut this August. They’ve also revealed a new piece of art (taken from the teaser’s sole shot) which you can check out, along with the video, below.
The secrecy in the trailer surrounding Capaldi is a bit strange seeing as the character has already been seen in both “The Day of the Doctor,” the 50th anniversary special, and in the Christmas special, “The Time of the Doctor”. His official costume was also revealed in still photography in January.
The new episodes also star Jenna Coleman, reprising her role as Clara Oswald. Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat has scripted the first episode of the new series with Phil Ford drafting the second. Both are directed by Ben Wheatley.
“Doctor Who” is executive produced by Moffat and Brian Minchin, and produced by Nikki Wilson and Peter Bennett. It is a BBC Cymru Wales production for BBC One.
