Computer peripheral maker Genius has launched an upgraded version of its G-Pen F610 Writing Graphic Tablet in North America, offering the slim, 6×10-inch tablet for just under $100. The tablet, which is positioned as both a replacement for a conventional mouse and a budget option for drawing and graphic design, works with both Mac (OS X 10.2.8 and higher) and Windows (XP or later).
The cordless pen included with the tablet offers two programmable buttons which can be used as left- and right-click, and a pressure sensitivity of 1,024 levels. It uses on AAA battery for pen and otherwise can be used immediately after installing the drivers for the USB-powered tablet. The package also comes with two additional pen tips and tweezers, and the tablet offers a holder that protects the tip.
The 2,000-dpi resolution tablet can be set up with up to 29 programmable hot-key areas to set up shortcuts for favorite programs or navigation. The product is promoted as ideal for taking notes, using handwriting-recognition software, writing out e-mail as well as illustration or graphic design work, and is designed to be compatible with flat-panel and wide screens.
