Today Linksys announced a new home Wi-Fi router called the E4200. The design is a major restyling with a more upscale look while it also focuses much more on performance. It can peak at 450Mbps on the 5GHz 802.11n band and has six antennas along with amplifiers which provide faster speed at the edges of the wireless range.
On top of its speed, the new router is a full-service switch with simultaneous dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connections as well as four gigabit Ethernet ports for local wired users. It supports USB storage and can act as its own UPnP server to host media for other devices on the local network.
The E4200 should be available today in the US through Best Buy and Cisco’s own online store. Canada is also due to get the router sometime in late as June or July.
