The newest trailer for ‘Star Trek Beyond‘ premiered during a fan event held last night on the Paramount lot in Los Angeles, Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin announced that the film will have its world premiere gala during Comic Con 2016. What’s more, the premiere will be an outdoor Imax event with a full orchestra performing.
“We’re partnering with comic con and are going to do our premiere in San Diego,” Lin told the crowd. “I believe its going to be the first time ever IMAX outdoors. We’ll have a full orchestra.”
Fans of Star Trek Beyond who also happen to be in San Diego for Comic Con 2016 are in for a big treat. Comic-Con confirmed the news just moments later on the event’s official site. “This first-ever outdoor IMAX premiere event will include appearances by the film’s cast and crew, and a live concert performance by the San Diego symphony orchestra,” the announcement said.
In addition, JJ Abrams confirmed that everyone attending tonight’s fan event would be given credentials to attend the screening in San Diego. The Gala is happening Wednesday, July 20, the same day as the annual preview night that kicks off the convention. Star Trek Beyond then hits theaters wide on July 22.
