There are some interesting additions to the Wii U eShop this week including the trial version of Wii Fit U, which can be played by those already owning Balance Boards. The first of Nintendo’s Wii experiments (the second being Wii Sports Club, out next week), Wii Fit U won’t be available in stores until December.
Aside from Wii Fit U, another batch of retail games, including LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, are showing up on eShop alongside two Virtual Console releases and some downloadable offerings.
Wii U Retail Games
Wii Fit U (Trial Version)
Do you own a Wii Fit Balance Board? If so, you’d be silly not to try out Wii Fit U. You can download it for free (from November 1 to January 31, 2014) and try the whole game out for a month. All you have to do is buy a Fit Meter for $19.99 to keep the game past the trial period. If you don’t have a Balance Board, you’ll either need track down a new or used copy of Wii Fit, or wait until December. Wii Fit U includes all the functionality of Wii Fit Plus, as well as new balance games and Fit Meter functionality.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes ($49.99)
It’s another LEGO game! If you’re keeping score, this is the third LEGO game on Wii U this year, after LEGO City Undercover and LEGO Batman 2. This time, the stars are Marvel superheroes, including Iron Man, The Hulk, and Spider-Man. All the heroes you probably love are going on a journey to defeat Loki (tragically not played by Tom Hiddleston), Doctor Doom (also not played by Tom Hiddleston), and a whole mess of Marvel baddies (all not played by Tom Hiddleston). It’s got co-op, Off-TV Play, and more!
Ben 10 Omniverse 2 ($39.99, Available November 5)
The Wii U version of Ben 10 Omniverse 2 is developed by High Voltage Software, so if you were wondering what The Conduit guys were doing, now you know. Starring series hero Ben Tennyson, Omniverse 2 takes Ben and his merry band of aliens he can change into with the Omnitrix on a wild ride in the fight against the vile Incurseans. Like past Ben 10 games, you can change between the alien forms.
