The Hollywood Reporter says that Nicolas Cage has joined the $13 million psycho-thriller Black Butterfly, which marks the first English-language film from German production group Bavariapool. German actress Veronica Ferres is attached to co-star.
According to the trade, Cage “will play the reclusive author Paul, who befriends a drifter, with fatal consequences.”
The movie is based on the 2008 French TV thriller “Papillon noir,” which starred Stephane Freiss and Eric Cantona.
Brian Goodman (What Doesn’t Kill You) is set to direct, with shooting set to start early 2012 in eastern Germany.
