The Nintendo 3DS reached 3.61 million units of sales worldwide between its debut in Japan on February 26 to March 31, 2011. This sales figure covers the North American and Europe launch days, which were at the tail end of Nintendo’s fiscal year.
Software sales for the Nintendo 3DS reached 9.43 million units. Two games broke past the million mark and became platinum sellers. Although, Nintendo did not announce which titles those were.
Nintendo DS had the highest hardware sales at 17.52 million units for this fiscal year, April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011, and 120.98 million units of software. Wii sold 15.08 million units worldwide with 171.26 million units of software.
Nintendo DS sales were 27.11 million units between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010, the previous fiscal year. DS software sales were 151.59 million units. Wii sales last fiscal year were a bit higher at 20.53 million units and 191.81 million units of software.
