OlliOlli

It’s the week of crossbuy on the Wii U and 3DS eShops.

Today, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars and OlliOlli are both coming out and all you have to do is buy the game once on Wii U and 3DS and then you get the other version for free. Aside from that, it’s a light slate of games on the eShop as we sit in between major releases. Don’t worry, we have three new Nintendo-published retail games on the way over the next two weeks.

Wii U/3DS Original Download Games

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars ($19.99)

The next entry in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series brings the Mini marching gameplay to Wii U and 3DS. Featuring the same Lemmings-style puzzles from past game, Tipping Stars uses the touch screen to guide little robots away from obstacles and to the goal. A major part of this version is the stage creator, where players can create stages and share them on Miiverse. You can even “tip stars” people who make stages you love. This game supports crossbuy, so all you have to do is buy it on one system to get it for free on the other.

OlliOlli ($8.49)

Originally released on Vita in early 2014, OlliOlli is now out on Wii U and 3DS. It’s a challenging 2D skateboarding game where you have precisely execute and land tricks to complete different goals and challenges. If you miss Tony Hawk games, this super rad game is something you should look into, even if it gets very hard very quickly. This game supports crossbuy, so all you have to do is buy it on one system to get it for free on the other.

3DS Original Download Games

Proun+ ($5.99)

Proun+ is a weird racing game from Engine Software where you control a ball that rolls around the outside of a pipe. With a focus on neat stereoscopic 3D and a variety of racing speeds, Proun+ looks like it might be a fun little eShop game focused on quick thinking.

Zombie Incident ($1.99)

From CoderChild, Zombie Incident is a retro-styled game where you investigate a zombie-infested citadel. The most notable thing about this game is that it was developed for the MSX…in 2011 as part of a coding competition. This enhanced 3DS version features online rankings so you can compare your high scores with others.

Best of Casual Games ($24.99)

It was the Best of Casual Games, it was the worst of casual games. Dickens aside, this 3DS eShop game from Bigben Interactive mixes together four types of games, including hidden object and match-three puzzles, and drags its players on a quest throughout Europe to find puzzle pieces.

Hollywood Fame: Hidden Object Adventure ($24.99)

Not content with just one release this week, Bigben Interactive also brought out this hidden object adventure. Players control the erstwhile young woman Jess Mallory who seeks out a career in Hollywood by using her powers of observation. That’s right: her goal is to become an actress by noticing things.

Wii U Virtual Console Games

SkyKid ($4.99)

This 1987 NES game from Namco is a shoot-’em-up that is most notable for being the first game from Namco to let two players play together at once. It features hidden cameos from different characters such as Pac-Man, and the series most recently showed up in Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U as the player’s ship shows up in one of Pac-Man’s taunts.
