It was first announced last month that Tom Hardy was interested in headlining Michael R. Roskam’s Animal Rescue. Today, Deadline reports that Noomi Rapace is up for a role as well.
Based on short story by Dennis Lehane, Animal Rescue revolves around a killing that results from a lost and contested pit bull. The story appeared in the Akashic Books anthology “Boston Noir,” which Lehane also edited.
Lehane, the author of the novels that led to the films Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island and Mystic River, adapted the screenplay for “Rescue” himself.
Rapace, best known for her breakout performance in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has recently appeared on the big screen in films like Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Prometheus.
Peter Chernin and Mike Larocca are attached to produce.
