Nuance Releases Major Update to Dragon Go! for iOS

Nuance has released a major update of Dragon Go!, its voice-driven search utility for iOS. After opening the software a person can use voice to quickly navigate through a range of curated services, such as Fandango and AccuWeather. The v1.1 update implements support for several more services, most notably Netflix and Spotify.

Also new is support for the Google+ social network, and the Ask.com and Wolfram Alpha search engines. The app’s Yelp component has been improved with the ability to view a map within the Yelp tab. Dragon Go! is a free download for any device running iOS 4 or better, although there is no native iPad interface.

Apps like Go! may potentially become redundant with the release of iOS 5. One of its major features should be Assistant, a voice command system based in part on Nuance’s own technology. The platform will allow complex requests that integrate with apps like SMS, Maps or Reminders. Go’s saving grace may be support for services that don’t duplicate native iOS functions.
