The latest flagship smartphone from OnePlus cannot stream video content from certain providers in high-definition, according to The Verge.
The services impacted include Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies, and Netflix.
The OnePlus 5T has a full HD+ display and a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor with 8 GB of RAM, meaning the hardware is certainly capable of delivering HD content. OnePlus confirmed the issue to The Verge and said a future update will resolve the deficiency.
The issue pertains to the 5T’s lack of support for Widevine Level 1 DRM, something content services often require for HD streaming.
OnePlus did not say when the software fix might be made available.
