Laura Prepon is going for a ride of sorts with Emily Blunt and The Girl on The Train. The Orange Is The New Black actress has joined the cast of DreamWorks’ adaptation of Paula Hawkin’s bestselling novel.
Prepon will play Cathy, the landlord, roommate and college friend of Blunt’s Rachel Wilson character. Rachel is a drunken divorcee who daydreams about the perfect NYC life of seemingly perfect couple Scott and Megan on her daily commute as she passes their house. However, when Rachel hears that Megan has gone missing, she becomes embroiled in a potentially fatal mystery in trying find out what happened, was she drunkenly involved, and where Megan has gone. Rachel tries to keep her hard drinking a secret from Cathy, who knows what’s going on and is at her wit’s end with her pal, who she threatens to evict.
Erin Cressida Wilson wrote the screenplay adapted from Hawkins’ book. Marc Platt is producing, with Jared LeBoff and Celia Costas executive producers. Also starring Haley Bennett as Megan, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’s Rebecca Ferguson, Edgar Ramirez and Justin Theroux, among others, the Tate Taylor directed pic is set to be released by Universal on October 7.
