Origin PC, a manufacturer of custom-built computers, has announced a new addition to its compact Chronos series of gaming PCs – the Silverstone RVZ01 case.
The system, with this case, will be known as the Chronos Micro Tower, and according to the information we received, it will be able to house a GTX Titan Z. The problem with pairing these two together, though, is that you’d need a very powerful SFX power supply along with an alternate cooler for the GTX Titan Z, which occupies three expansion slots, one more than the case has room for. Silverstone has solved the PSU problem with the new 600 W SFX power supply (though the configurator lists a 650 W unit instead of a 600 W unit, perhaps that’s just a mistake; we’ve reached out to Origin PC for clarification, but have yet to hear back) which might be tight, but should be enough to power a GTX Titan Z.
Regarding the physical size of the graphics card, we would have to assume that Origin PC has sourced an alternate cooling method for the card, be that with a compact air cooling unit or custom water cooling. It is possible to configure the two together online into a single system, though, and the press materials also make it very clear that it is possible. Again, we’ve reached out to Origin PC for more details.
“So far, 4K gaming PCs have been required to be in large tower cases with multiple video cards,” said Kevin Wasielewski, Origin PC CEO and co-founder. “It’s amazing to see that in such a short amount of time we are already offering a true 4K gaming PC in a micro tower that can sit vertically on your desk, or horizontally in your living room. The Chronos micro tower with a 12GB Nvidia Titan Z is the most gaming power I have ever seen in such a small chassis.”
Of course, such a system will be very expensive, as the graphics card alone costs an additional $3313, where the starting graphics card in the configurator is a 1 GB GTX 750. As such, a reasonably balanced system will easily cost in excess of $5000.
