Legendary Pictures has picked Steven S. DeKnight to direct the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 action adventure film Pacific Rim.
The current script was written by Jon Spaihts based on characters created by Travis Beacham and del Toro. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro, and Mary Parent are producing and Jillian Share will exec produce.
The sequel will be DeKnight’s feature directorial debut, having served as exec producer and head writer for Marvel’s Daredevil at Netflix. He also created the hit Starz series Spartacus and has written, directed and produced on various shows such as Smallville.
Legendary add this to their growing list of upcoming epics, along with Warcraft coming June 10 and The Great Wall opening Feb 17 of next year.
