You’re probably already familiar with your new favorite “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” guest star: Patton Oswalt, who will play Agent Eric Koenig in an upcoming episode of the ABC drama.
According to Marvel, Oswalt snagged the role when producers asked him to come on board. The character of Koenig first appeared in the comics in “Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #27,” and was a part of Nick Fury’s original team of World War II soldiers.
“I got a call from my agent saying they want you on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, and I said ‘hell, yes,'” the actor tells Marvel. “I’m lucky that I’m visible enough that they wanted to bring me in to play this character. I’d worked with [‘SHIELD’ executive producer] Joss [Whedon] before on ‘Dollhouse,’ and I guess I wasn’t too annoying and they decided to put me on another one of his shows. So I was very lucky.”
There’s no word yet on an airdate for Oswalt’s episode.
