Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig has boarded 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios’ animated Peanuts, Deadline reports. He’ll both produce and oversee the film for the studio.
The film, set for a November 6, 2015, is based on creator Charles Schulz’s iconic comic strip, which features the likes of Snoopy and Charlie Brown. Featuring some of the most recognized characters in the world, Peanuts celebrates its 65 anniversary the same year.
The Peanuts screenplay has been written and will be produced by Craig Schulz, son of Charles Schulz along with his own son, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano. Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios have been chosen by the Schulz family to distribute, produce and animate the new film. Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age: Continental Drift) is directing.
Feig’s next project as a director, also set up at Fox, is the spy comedy Susan Cooper, re-teaming him with leading lady Melissa McCarthy.
