Square has releasedfull remake of its Card Case mobile payment app. Now called Pay with Square, the iOS versionĀ is now joined by the very first Android version, both with new interfaces. It drops the skeuomorphic look meant to represent a literal wallet and is focused more direct lists and a clear way to start a tab at a given shop.
Search gets easier through both text search and a map browser that lets you find stores that will take Square payments. It’s now possible to save favorite merchants, and they can be shared through e-mail, text messages, or Square founder Jack Dorsey’s other business, Twitter.
Android users start off with relative feature equality and can choose to automatically open a tab at a store once they get within a certain distance.
Although only optimized for smaller screens and iOS 5, the iOS version needs iOS 4.1 or later to work. Android device owners also don’t get tablet optimization and need at least Android 2.2.
