Filmmaker Dennis Widmyer used his Twitter account to announce that production has started on the new film adaptation of Stephen King’s 1983 novel Pet Sematary at Paramount Pictures.
Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch co-helm the movie in which Jason Clarke plays Dr. Louis Creed, a man who moves his family to a house by a busy road in rural Maine.
Nearby the local children have created a cemetery for the dogs and cats killed by the steady stream of transports on the busy highway. Deeper in the woods lies another graveyard, an ancient Indian burial ground whose sinister properties Louis discovers when the family cat is killed.
Jeff Buhler adapted the script for the film which also stars John Lithgow and Amy Seimetz.
Pet Sematary opens April 19th 2019.
