PopCap Games has launched Peggle HD for the iPad and put it on sale from its future price in celebration. The app, which was first produced in 2007, has been downloaded more than 30 million times and won numerous industry awards. The companion game Peggle Nights will also be available as an in-app purchase in Peggle HD, and the game also features Game Center support and 29 achievements for players to unlock. The HD version has been written specifically for the iPad, but there is a separate version for the iPhone and iPod Touch as well.
Peggle offers a cross between pool, pinball and pachinko as players try to clear orange pegs by firing silver balls from the top of the screen. Power-ups and obstacles along with dynamically-spawned special-effect colored pegs make the game slightly different each time it’s played. The HD version of the game features four playing modes, new style shots, a trophy room, 55 levels and as assortment of talking plants and animal characters you can challenge.
The game will be on sale for a limited time for $3, and comes with five levels of Peggle Nights included as a preview. The full Peggle Nights download is also on sale within the Peggle HD app for $1. The normal prices for the games will be $5 for Peggle HD and $2 for the Peggle Nights purchase. Both games are also available for the Mac.
