The Sopranos creator David Chase has announced plans to revisit the world of his iconic HBO TV series with The Many Saints of Newark, a new prequel film set in the 1960s.
The story is set in the era of the Newark riots with younger versions of some of the characters from The Sopranos series appearing in the movie, though which ones are unclear.
Chase and Lawrence Konner have written the script with Chase on board as a producer and is now in search of a director for the project which has been set up at New Line.
Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich says in a statement: “David is a masterful storyteller and we, along with our colleagues at HBO, are thrilled that he has decided to revisit, and enlarge, the Soprano universe in a feature film.”
