Project CARS is just over a week away. Slightly Mad Studios announced today the final car list that we can look forward to. The standard edition of the game includes 65 cars, as well as the free download cars, one of which will be available at launch. The Limited Edition and Modified Car Packs add another eight cars on top of that.
Project CARS has been on the horizon for some time, and a final car list hasn’t been available until now. There are a lot of missing manufacturers – racing fans might be disappointed by the lack of Ferrari and some of the bigger Japanese manufacturers, for example. There’s a good reason for that, though. Where Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo are backed by their respective console parent companies, Project CARS is a game built by a small studio that started with a crowdfunding campaign. Aside from the game’s bigger focus on things like Formula and Prototype racing, what we’re getting is most likely the “licenses we could afford” Car Pack. Keeping the scale of the studio in mind and the fact that they’re not backed by a particular console, it’s actually a pretty good lineup of cars, and we’re looking forward to checking it out.
Project CARS hits PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One digital marketplaces May 8 and retail shelves May 12.
